성균관대학교 한문교육과와 사학과를 졸업하고, 동 대학교 사학과 대학원에서 석사 및 박사 학위를 받았다. 고려 시기 지식인 위정자들이 어떤 지적 기반 속에서 통치 방향을 설정하고 실천했는지 탐구한다. 「고려시대 유학 통치와 五經의 활용」이라는 제목으로 박사 논문을 썼다. 주요 논문으로 「고려시대 관인상의 형성과 변화－能文‧能吏형 관인상을 중심으로－」, 「고려시기 伊尹 故事와 그에 나타난 군신관계」 등이 있다. 공공역사와 학문후속세대의 연구 환경에 관심을 두고 신진 역사학 연구자 모임인 만인만색연구자네트워크에서 활동했으며, 그 경험과 고민을 공저 『만인만색역사공작단』, 『한국에서 박사하기』 등에서 담아냈다. 한국고전번역원 연수과정을 졸업했고, SOAS 런던대학교 방문학자를 지냈다. 2018년 한국연구재단 글로벌박사양성사업(Global Ph.D. Fellowship)에 선정됐고, 현재 「고려 전기 재이론(災異論)의 정립과 논리」라는 제목으로 인문사회학술연구교수(B유형) 연구 과제를 수행 중이다.

HYUN Soojin received her PhD from the Department of History in Sungkyunkwan University, where she also earned her BAs in Education of Classical Chinese and History and her MA in History. Her research focuses on the intellectual history of the Koryŏ dynasty between the tenth and the fourteenth century in Korea, especially the adaptation and transmission of the Five Classics and the Four Books from Tang, Song and Yuan to Koryŏ, the political and social mechanisms that mediated this knowledge and the politics chosen and reinterpreted by intellectuals who were responsible for government. Her PhD dissertation (to be awarded in Feburary 2026) is titled The Five Classics and Confucian Rulership in Koryŏ. In 2018 she completed the three-year training program in Literary Sinitic at the Institute for the Translation of Korean Classics. In the same year she was awarded the Global Ph.D. Fellowship from the National Research Foundation of Korea, and has since received five additional research grants from the institution. From September 2021 to August 2022 she was a visiting scholar at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.
